At the age of 15 Dovan Du Do lost an arm and a leg while working as a combat interpreter for the US Army Special Forces. Mr. Do received a scholarship and attended University of Washington in Architecture in Seattle. He was subsequently trained in software engineering at the RCH Technical Institute in 1987 which were sponsored by IBM, Microsoft and Boeing Computer Services. He graduated to become a highly successful software engineer and systems analyst for a number of enterprises, including Group Health Cooperative, Washington Mutual Bank, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), McKesson Corporation, and Blue Cross & Blue Shield. In 2003 Mr. Do returned to Vietnam working with USAID and launched an IT Training Program for People with Disabilities (PWD) via Catholic Relieve Service. Under his leadership the ITTP trained over 700 PWD with over 80% of the graduates found employment.
People told him that he can’t work because of his limited use of his hand. Tran Manh Huy attended University of Technology in Computer Science in 1997 to become one of Vietnam top IT professional for number of enterprises in Vietnam. To help remove stigma and eradicate society perception toward PWD Mr. Huy took a leadership role in educating the public that if society remove both architectural and mental barriers PWD can have equal access to education and employment. Thus PWD can mainstream themselves into the work forces and have better quality of life. In 2010 Mr. Huy started a Business Process Outsourcing VBPO company with over 300 employees working, most of them are disadvantaged and youth with disabilities.
